Beaded Brown Bowl - K. Johnson 2010
While attending college in Philadelphia I was hit by an epic wave of creativity and inspiration.  I had always been artistically curious, taking tons of photography classes through out high school.  But it was when I began working on my undergrad that I was reminded of just how much I love to create with my hands.  From drawing, to painting, to pottery, and photography of course, I fell in love with art and crafts all over again.

It's amazing how much I've grown and evolved as an artist since my freshman year away at school.  Today I dedicate most of my studio time to painting and mixed-media projects.  But in 2010, when I made this "Beaded Brown Bowl" (above) I was spending most of my days with clay caked fingers and the company of my pottery wheel.  I hope to keep the flame alive for my pottery passion.  The soothing rhythm and satiny soft texture of wet clay spinning beneath my hands have given way to some of the greatest relaxation sessions that I have ever known.  And, I think I could use one of those right about now...
